Correct and reasonable selection of carbide saw blade is of great significance to improve product quality, shorten processing cycle and reduce processing cost. The cemented carbide saw blade contains many parameters, such as the type of carbide cutter head, the material of substrate, diameter, number of teeth, thickness, tooth shape, angle, hole diameter and so on. These parameters determine the machining ability and cutting performance of the saw blade. When selecting the saw blade, it is necessary to select the saw blade correctly according to the type, thickness, cutting speed, cutting direction, feeding speed and saw width.

The common types of cemented carbide are tungsten cobalt (code YG), tungsten titanium class (code YT). Tungsten cobalt cemented carbide is widely used in wood processing industry because of its good impact resistance.
The commonly used model in wood processing is yg8-yg15. The number after YG indicates the percentage of cobalt content. With the increase of cobalt content, the impact toughness and bending strength of the alloy are improved, but the hardness and wear resistance are decreased. Therefore, it should be selected according to the actual situation.

Selection of matrix:
1. 65Mn spring steel has good elasticity and plasticity, economical material, good heat treatment harden ability, low heating temperature and easy deformation. It can be used for saw blade with low cutting requirements.
2. The carbon tool steel has high carbon content and high thermal conductivity, but its hardness and wear resistance decrease sharply when the temperature is 200 ℃ – 250 ℃. The heat treatment deformation is large, the harden ability is poor, and the tempering time is long and easy to crack. Manufacturing economical materials for cutting tools such as T8A, T10A, T12A, etc.
3. Compared with carbon tool steel, alloy tool steel has better heat resistance, wear resistance and better treatment performance. The heat deformation temperature is between 300 ℃ and 400 ℃, which is suitable for manufacturing high-grade alloy circular saw blade.
It is a high-grade tool steel with high rigidity and high plasticity.

Selection of diameter:
The diameter of the saw blade is related to the sawing equipment used and the thickness of the work-piece. When the diameter of saw blade is small, the cutting speed is relatively low; when the diameter of saw blade is large, the requirements of saw blade and sawing equipment are high, and the sawing efficiency is also high. The outer diameter of the saw blade shall be selected according to different circular saw machine models, and the saw blade with the same diameter shall be used.

Selection tooth number:
Generally speaking, the more teeth there are, the more cutting edges will be cut in unit time, and the better cutting performance will be. However, if the number of cutting teeth is more, the quantity of cemented carbide is needed, and the price of saw blade will be high. However, if the saw teeth are too dense, the chip holding capacity between the teeth will be smaller, which will easily cause the saw blade to heat up. In addition, if the feed rate is not properly matched, the cutting amount of each tooth will be very small, which will aggravate the blade edge and the blade The friction of work-piece affects the service life of blade. Generally, the tooth spacing is 15-25 mm, and the reasonable number of teeth should be selected according to the material of sawing.

Selection of tooth profile:
The commonly used tooth shapes include left and right teeth (alternate teeth), flat teeth, ladder flat teeth (high and low teeth), inverted trapezoid teeth (inverted conical teeth), dovetail teeth (hump teeth), and industrial grade three left and one right, left and right flat teeth, etc.
1. The left and right teeth are widely used, with high cutting speed and relatively simple grinding. It is suitable for cutting and sawing all kinds of soft and hard solid wood profiles, density boards, multi layer boards, particle boards, etc. The left and right teeth equipped with anti rebound protection teeth are dovetail teeth, which are suitable for longitudinal cutting of all kinds of boards with knots; the left and right saw blades with negative front angle are usually used for panel sawing due to their sharp teeth and good cutting quality.
2. The flat tooth saw edge is rough, the cutting speed is slow, and the grinding is the most simple. It is mainly used for sawing ordinary wood with low cost. It is mainly used for aluminum saw blade with small diameter to reduce adhesion during cutting, or it is used for grooving saw blade to keep groove bottom flat.
3. Ladder flat tooth is a combination of trapezoidal teeth and flat teeth, which is more complex in grinding. It can reduce the phenomenon of veneer cracking when sawing. It is suitable for sawing various single and double veneered wood-based panels and fireproof boards. In order to prevent adhesion, the saw blade with ladder flat teeth is often used.
4. The inverted ladder tooth is often used in the bottom groove saw blade of the panel saw. When sawing the double faced wood-based panel, the groove saw adjusts the thickness to complete the undercut processing, and then the main saw completes the sawing process of the board to prevent the edge collapse of the saw edge

Use requirements
1. When working, the work-piece should be fixed, and the profile positioning should be in line with the cutting direction to avoid abnormal cutting in. Do not apply side pressure or curve cutting. The feed should be stable to avoid the impact contact of the blade with the work-piece, which may lead to damage of the saw blade or flying out of the work-piece.
2. In case of abnormal sound and vibration, rough cutting surface, or peculiar smell, the operation must be stopped immediately, and timely inspection and troubleshooting shall be carried out to avoid accidents.
3. When starting and stopping cutting, do not feed too fast to avoid tooth breakage and damage.
4. If cutting aluminum alloy or other metals, special cooling lubricant should be used to prevent saw blade overheating, tooth paste, and other damage, affecting the cutting quality.
5. The chip removal groove and slag suction device of the equipment shall be unblocked, so as to prevent slag from forming into blocks and affecting production and safety.
6. When dry cutting, please do not cut continuously for a long time to avoid affecting the saw blade
